About the cabin
Built and managed by Scott McGlothlin, this cabin sits on a quiet stretch of Vinegar Bend Road, just outside Roslyn in the highlands of Kittitas County. It was never meant to be a destination — it was meant to be a pause.
One bedroom. One fireplace. No television. The kind of place where the morning comes in through the pines before your alarm does.
Whether you're a writer looking for silence, a hiker seeking a basecamp, or simply someone who needs a weekend where nothing is scheduled — this is the spot.
The stay
A comfortable queen bed, linen sheets, and black-out curtains for those mornings you'd rather stay in.
Full stove, fridge, coffee maker, and all the basics. Bring your groceries from Roslyn — there's a store about five minutes away.
Provided firewood, cast-iron grate, and a stone hearth. Evenings here are warm by default.
No shared walls, no neighbors close by. Just your group and the sound of wind through the firs.
Ample space for one or two vehicles right outside the door. No permit required, no street hunting.
Flexible arrival with a lockbox — come when you arrive, leave when you're ready. No schedules to coordinate.
Surroundings
A preserved 1880s coal town turned arts community. Independent bookshops, a working bakery, and the Roslyn Museum — all within walking distance of the main drag.
Over 200 miles of trail in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness. From easy riverside walks to alpine passes that reward with views of glacier-capped peaks.
Cold, clear, and ringed by old-growth fir. A popular spot for kayaking in summer and ice fishing in winter. The road in is part of the experience.
